Alaina, about 6 weeks old (March 2003)
6 months old - July 2003. Alaina laughed at this one and made the same face for us!
August 2003 - about 7 months old.
9 months - October 2003. This is one of my favorites, because we have seen that "worried / concerned" look in her brows many times!
13 months - February 2004 - about a month before her heart surgery.
At some point in our process to get Alaina, Lucy received an email from a lady in the Yunnan Yahoo Group stating that she may have pictures of our new daughter as a baby. She told us that she would gladly send these to us after we returned home with Alaina. I had kind of forgotten about it, but evidently she and Lucy got in contact again. So the other day we received a letter and about 11 pictures.
Here is what the note said: As you can see, your daughter also had a Finnish nickname (Suvisirkku). The head of the baby unit at that time was a warm and loving Finnish woman and she gave Western names to all of her babies - many were Finnish! It looks like "Suvi" was well loved. She looks like a girl with a lot of spunk and character.
Alaina was born in January and the first picture is from March (2 months old) and goes all the way to the following February (13 or 14 months). A few months are missing but still what a gift! Up until now we had nothing from Alaina's first 6 years of life other than her referral pictures. We are pretty sure all of these were taken while she was in the orphanage. She went into foster care after her surgery. AMAZING!!!
Obviously, this is our favorite of all!!!

How precious!!! I love them all and how special for Alaina to have them to look at. EK loves seeing herself when she was a baby. It is so special to them! Hope you all are doing well.

Wow! What a gift for Alaina to have been given by this generous lady. You can certainly see Alaina in the expressions! She must have loved looking through the pictures. Thanks for sharing them with us!

You can DEFINITELY TELL IT'S HER! I love the one of her smiling also - it just makes my heart feel so good for all of us to see how well taken care of she is. What a priceless and forever treasured gift!!!
