Alaina entered the "Reflections" contest at her school and WON first place for the whole Kindergarten! She came home today with her trophy and a HUGE smile! She won for her "choreography" - she did a Chinese fan dance in her Kunming outfit; well, I don't really know if it was a Chinese fan dance, but she did dance around with a fan wearing a Chinese outfit!

So many changes in the past 8 months for your little girl. It's so nice to see such pure delight on her face!
Congratulations, Alaina! That is so cool! Lucy, I know you are just as proud of her as she is of herself, and rightfully so. I would love to see her winning dance. Maybe you can videotape her performing it at home (outfit and all) and post it on this blog?
Hugs to the family!
How fun! Congrats to Alaina! It's amazing what our kids can "sell" to the American public as being Chinese, eh?
Jorja's classmates say, "Speak in Chinese." She makes up words and they are impressed. And she just laughs! :)
(It's so not Cantonese!)
Woot Woot! congrats to Alaina!! She looks so proud :)
Those Kunming girls love to dance! It is in their blood. I remember every day in Kunming and seeing people dancing in the streets and parks. Our guide told us a neat story about the people of Kunming and why they love to dance.
